A SNOWY ANNIVERSARY SESSION IN SLEEPING BEAR DUNES

DECEMBER 2024

It’s no secret Northern Michigan is stunning during summer and fall. So many of my sessions involve dips in the lake, running up and down the dunes, and of course gorgeous sunsets. But there’s something magical about Sleeping Bear Dunes in the winter. The crowds are gone, the colors soften, and the landscape feels vast and intimate at the same time. Snow drapes the dunes like a fresh canvas, Lake Michigan turns a steely blue, and every sound seems hushed—perfect conditions for an engagement session that feels timeless and deeply personal.

Winter sessions aren’t about chasing golden sunsets or wildflower fields. They’re about connection, stillness, and leaning into the beauty of the season. Sarah and Harry (together with their adorable Corgi), braved the wind chill, and hiked up the dunes to celebrate their anniversary.
