Sleeping Bear Dunes is breathtaking on its calmest days—but when a storm rolls in, it becomes something entirely different. Dramatic. Wild. Unforgettable. This engagement session unfolded under heavy skies, with the wind picking up and the light shifting by the minute, creating a kind of magic you can’t plan for.

Dark clouds gathered over the dunes as Lake Michigan churned in the distance. The air felt electric, charged with that quiet anticipation that comes just before the rain. Wind pulled at their clothes and tangled hair, but instead of retreating, they leaned into it—laughing, holding tighter, completely unfazed by the weather.

The storm stripped everything down to what mattered most. No distractions, no perfect conditions—just two people wrapped up in each other while the dunes rose and fell around them. The muted tones of sand and sky made every glance feel more intense, every touch more intentional.

But when the lightning started, we decided to call it a night and met the next day to finish up the session with a jump in the lake!
